Hanah was selected to perform with the mixed choir at the National Association for Music Education’s (NAFME) 2018 All National Honor Ensembles.  Eligible students have qualified for their state-level honor ensemble program and competed against top students from schools in the country for a spot in the national honor ensembles.  Selected students will be rehearsing a challenging repertoire in preparation for performing under the baton of the most prominent conductors in the United States. The 2018 All-National Honor Ensembles (ANHE) will perform at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida Many thanks to all of the North Shore School District music and art teachers who teach and lend their support to our students to accomplish wonderful things! Congratulations North Shore All-State Musicians!

This year seven North Shore high School students were invited to participate in the All-State Festival at the 83rd NYSSMA annual winter Conference in Rochester, New York.  An additional two students were named alternates. Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo ensemble festivals throughout the state.

Congratulations go out to the following North Shore student musicians for receiving this prestigious honor: Maxwell Bross, Hanah Leventhal, Emma Sorensen, Kayla Sorensen, Christine Ramirez, Fiona Shonik, Keegan Brown, and Zoe Goodstone.

The annual festival, sponsored by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), is considered the highest honor a school musician can attain. In order to be accepted a musician must receive a perfect score in a formal audition performance, requiring preparation and performance of a level six (most difficult) solo, a sight-reading exam, and performance of thirteen scales. Over 6,500 high school sophomores and juniors audition for All-State each year and approximately nine hundred are accepted statewide.

Many thanks to all of the North Shore School District music teachers who work tirelessly to teach and assist our music students in their pursuit of their musical aspirations. Congratulations to all!

We're here to enhance arts opportunities in the North Shore School District and deepen community connections through the arts.

North Shore Arts Angels Inc. is a non-profit educational foundation established in 2014 in order to expand the role established by the Arts Angels Booster Club. Founded by a small group of parents in 2004, the Art Angels Booster Club helped to enhance arts education by providing funds to teachers in the music, fine arts and theater departments. These funds helped to pay for equipment, services and program support not covered in the school district budget. North Shore Arts Angels, Inc., was formed to carry on that tradition, as well as to further expand opportunities by creating independent arts based programs that complement and augment the districts offerings.
